1. Custom & Personalised Orders (Strict No-Return Policy)
In accordance with Section 20(3)(b) of the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), goods made to a consumer’s unique specifications are exempt from the right of return.
- Proof Approval: 3J’s Supplies provides digital proofs for all custom orders. Once you have approved a proof (via email or signature), 3J’s Supplies is not liable for any errors in spelling, color, layout, or dimensions.
- Production Commencement: Because materials are committed immediately, custom orders cannot be cancelled or amended once production has begun.
2. Stock Items & The 7-Day Window
For non-custom products (e.g., standard thermal rolls, plain tape):
- Cooling-Off Period: Under the ECT Act, you have 7 days from receipt to return unopened goods.
- Return Costs: The cost and risk of returning goods for a “change of mind” rest solely with the Customer. 3J’s Supplies will only bear return shipping costs if the item is proven defective.
- Restocking Fee: A 15% handling and restocking fee may be applied to returns of bulk stock orders to cover administrative and warehouse costs.
3. Defective Goods & The 6-Month Warranty
We stand by our quality. However, the company is protected by the following conditions:
- Notification Window: Any visible defects or quantity discrepancies must be reported within 48 hours of delivery.
- Misuse & Storage: The 6-month implied warranty does not cover defects resulting from:
- Incorrect storage (e.g., thermal rolls kept in high heat/direct sunlight).
- Normal wear and tear.
- Use of the product for a purpose other than what it was designed for.
- Right to Inspect: 3J’s Supplies reserves the right to inspect the goods and verify the defect before authorizing a repair, replacement, or refund.
4. Cancellation of Orders
- Stock Orders: Orders cancelled before dispatch may be subject to a 10% admin fee.
- Custom Orders: If a custom order is cancelled after artwork has been prepared but before printing, an artwork/setup fee will be deducted from any refund.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, 3J’s Supplies’ liability for any claim is strictly limited to the purchase price of the specific goods in question. We are not liable for any “consequential loss” (e.g., if a late delivery of labels causes you to lose a contract with your own client).
Why this protects 3J better than the previous version:
- The Proof Clause: Shifts the responsibility for typos and design errors back to the client.
- Storage Exclusion: Protects you from having to refund thermal rolls that “faded” because the customer left them in a hot truck.
- Liability Cap: Prevents a customer from suing you for thousands of Rands in “lost business” because of a small printing delay.
- Handling Fee: Discourages customers from over-ordering stock and then “dumping” the excess back on you weeks later.
